Blankets in Memory of Tokes Gyula
Three weeks ago I Iost my father at 78 years old.
Last December, when he visited me here, the other side of the world, he was the most energetic person, one can imagine. Happy, full with life, and plans for the future....
Loved life!! Loved, what ever he did. Loved to be productive, and mostly loved people! Sadly in less than 5 months he lost his battle with cancer. One of the challenges while he was trying to get treatment was the poor conditions of the hospital. In particular, it was impossible for every patient to get a blanket to keep themselves warm. Even before he passed away, he was thinking about others. He said, as soon as he gets better, he wanted to organize a blanket drive for the hospital, so other patients didn't have to suffer being cold while trying to recover from surgery etc.
Unfortunately he did not have the chance to do this. On May 10th he passed away. But not before I promised him I will take over this project, that was so important to him.
The hospital is in Békéscsaba, Hungary. It's in desperate needs of warm blankets, sheets, portable IV stands, etc., etc. Even though we can't buy everything, I would love to fulfill my father's wish and provide them with warm blankets.
I will be flying to Hungary in July, and plan on personally purchasing the blankets from a local company, for $11.50 (3200 Hungarian Forint)/blanket. I plan on personally delivering all the blankets I am able to purchase to the hospital directly.
All proceeds from this GoFundMe will directly go to buying blankets and no other middleman is involved. Exactly as my father intended.
Every dime counts, please contribute what you can, and together we will be able to send as many blankets as possible!
If you would prefer to make a direct monetary donation (unfortunately I cannot carry blankets due to luggage restrictions), please feel free to send your check to:
Timea Tokes, 23881 Via Fabricante, Suite 508, Mission Viejo, CA 92691.
Also, if you could share this story with your family, and friends, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
Timea Tokes
