Blanka's Birthday Fundraiser - Ukraine & Myanmar

Hi friends and family,

 

It's my 30th (right?! I know) birthday soon and I'd love to ask you to help me help.

 

For this year, I'd like to do my best to help people affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and those impacted by the military coup in Myanmar/Burma.

 

1. Ukraine - My family has been helping three families from Ukraine escape the conflict. They've recently fled the country to the Czech Republic and started their lives from scratch. We're currently helping them with all necessary documentation and with settling down. I want to use 50% of what I fundraise to help them with their first months here. For example, to contribute to their rent, food and necessities, expenses for their kids' education and daycare, etc. Simply said, to help them back on their feet during this difficult time.

 

2. Myanmar/Burma - It's been more than a year since the military coup in Myanmar crashed the future for many in Myanmar. While difficult to estimate the actual number, thousands of people died as a result, estimated 1.6 million have lost their jobs and some 350,000 have become internally displaced. Many journalists are being killed, imprisoned, or fled the country. The covid pandemic further worsened the situation. I'd like to use the other 50% of the money I fundraise to support people through food donations via an organization called ZigWay that's been operating on the ground for years.
