Blanchard's kidney journey

Rion and Kathy's relationship started when a group of friends went to Windsor Canada for a weekend in 2004.  A beautiful love that has continued to strenghten and grow. Married in 2010, Rilee  in 2012 and Avery in 2014. 


A few years ago Rion was formally diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease, CKD.   Despite a healthy lifestyle and strict diet restrictions his kidneys worsened.  In January 2017, at the age of 35 Rion was informed that he needed a kidney transplant. Rion and Kathy met with many specialists and decided if a live donor was available, prior to starting dialysis,  that would be the best option.  Many people were tested, (we thank all of you!) and praise God a match was approved...Kathy! 

This gives a whole new meaning to unconditional love. Kathy will donate one of her kidneys to Rion to keep her soul mate and father of her children from kidney failure.  Kathy's faith in God is strong and she is ready to get this process started!

Many people have asked how they could help.  While the Blanchard's have tried to prepare for this surgery mentally, physically, spiritually and financially they understand the need to rely on family and friends for help.  Monetary donations, while not mandatory, could help to offset  some medical expenses and living expenses while they are both out of work (Rion is expected to be out 10-12 weeks, and Kathy 6-8 weeks following surgery).

Rion and Kathy were reluctant to accept any donations, and do not want anyone to feel obligated to donate.  They appreciate your support, prayers and well wishes during this challenging time.
