You have cancer. Three words you never want to hear in your lifetime. I heard those words on 9/10/18; to me it was like my personal 9/11.
Cancer affects you physically, emotionally and financially. Physically, the many side effects from chemo can be hard to deal with as some are painful. Emotionally, you feel like you’re on a roller coaster. Anxiety, stress, sadness and anger sometimes hit you all at the same time. Financially the doctor bills can be scary, not to mention everyday expenses, household bills and rent still need to be paid. It’s difficult to maintain a positive attitude when everything seems to be crashing down on you. As the saying goes, “you never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have”
I can now say that I’ve met the Devil, his name is Cancer. He shows no mercy, he gave me breast cancer and my 83 year old mother bone cancer almost at the same time. I spend every weekend taking care of my mother who is in constant pain. There is however someone that is stronger than the Devil, his name is God. He helps me get through each day, I believe he will walk with me throughout this difficult journey and together we will defeat the Cancer Devil.
My family and friends have been very supportive since my diagnosis. Although I’m still working it’s becoming more difficult to keep up with the bills and focus on my recovery. After my mastectomy surgery on 4/30/19 I will not be able to work for quite some time. Disability benefits don’t pay enough to survive on therefore, I’m humbly asking for your donations to assist me financially through this strenuous time.
