Blanca Perez (Memorial Expenses)
Donation protected
It is with a sad and heavy heart that I announce the passing of Blanca Iris Perez. After a 4-year battle with cancer, she finally rests at the age of 59. She is survived by her son Adam, brother Rene, and her nephews Ruben , Christian, and Timmy. She joins her daughter Ashley, mother and father, and two ex-husbands. Her story began in the Fort Greene Projects of Brooklyn, NY. She was born with an abundance of energy and resolve to stick by her choices. Those values helped her to be the life of the party.
She worked for WBLS radio station in 1998. This afforded her the ability to travel outside of Brooklyn and the United States (more specifically London). She said this changed her view of the world and she would no longer be tied down to her hometown. She wanted so much more for herself.
We settled in Queens, NY where she became a retail manager for the Cookies Department Store. She used her energy and resolve to work for 20 years on Jamaica Avenue where she helped all of the local kids selects school uniforms each year. She was a vital part of the business and very proud of what she had accomplished.
She made sure not to miss birthdays and other holidays. Christmas was the favorite time of the year because she never disappointed. She gave Adam the normal life that she wanted for herself.
She was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2017. She could not do anything else but literally fight for her life, and fight she did. She fought for Adam to have a normal life once again. She joined Housing Works in order to be a beacon of hope and become very close friends with others in this city who have endured the worst of situations. She enjoyed her time going to events all over the city with her program, which allowed her to create lasting memories.
Blanca was a lover of dance, music, art, poetry, and hugs. She left a mark on each and every person who had the pleasure of meeting her. Often referred to as Titi, she loved her nephews dearly and nothing made her happier than seeing them and hearing about their lives. I believe she succeeded in building a life of her own by being a successful single mother, loved at her places of employment, and gave Adam a life he would not trade away. These last few years were harder than any other she had faced before but filled with so much love it felt like she could fight forever.
Her Family is seeking funds for funeral, burial, and other memorial expenses. Any and every donation is greatly appreciated.
