Blakes Fight with Testicular Cancer

“Roughly about a month ago I presented to the Emergency Room with swelling and pain in my left testicle. After about 6 months of nagging pain, it became swollen suddenly to about the size of a baseball. Full of anxiety I rushed to the E.R. and the performed an ultrasound on my boys.
What they found was a 3cm massin my left testicle. 6 days later, I spent what money my two year old daughter and myself had for a life savings and backup funds to pay for the surgery outright.
Currently a few weeks down the road, CT scans look normal is what they initially told me. As the official read on the CT scan came back they told me my lymph nodes are swollen and recommended I start Chemo therapy as soon as possible.
Positive news is that the tumor orthe cancer itself was “within the margins” as in they did not find any cancer outside of the testicle. Tumor marker tests also indicate there may still be traces of cancer in my system. So, their course of treatment is Chemo... they want a week of being in Sioux Falls and then a two week break, then rinse, then repeat.
Problem is that the commute and medical bills are going to kill me. They want me to be in Sioux Falls for the five days, but traveling and living expenses piled on the chemo therapy and medical bills, all on top of raising my two year old daughter into a kind, caring, respectable young woman. She needs me as much as I need her.” - Spring of 2020.

May, 10th, 2022:

Well, it’s back and at it once again. May 16th, 2022, is the date I check into Methodist Hospital and undergo chemotherapy once again. Hopefully this will finally kill off the cancer once and for all, and life can resume a sense of normalcy and accomplishment again. It has felt like my health wealth and successes has been on the backburner for years now; far too long!

I hate to have to ask, or to be a charity case or anything of the sort… but thanks to the support and assistance from friends and family, Haidee and myself and my family have been able to juggle life and hospital visit/inpatient admission after inpatient admission… and we can not thank you enough for said support! I plan on seeking employment through the hospital in any way shape or form I possibly can in order to give back and show the appreciation I hold; for quite literally saving my life on numerous occasions!
