Blakely Arp on The Big Island: Medical and Loss of Wages Fund
Hello, my name is Ally Arp. I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read my sister’s story. Her name is Blakely, she is 23 years old, and she was involved in a very serious head-on car crash on the Big Island of Hawaii which she was extremely fortunate to survive. Blakely has spent her whole life focused on golf, fashion, and working at many boutiques and modeling. In May 2023, she graduated as a fashion major from University of North Alabama where she was a member of the D1 UNA Women’s Golf team. She had acquired an internship after graduation to work at a B Corp certified retail company in Hawaii. She and our family were all excited at the opportunity but anxious because she would be so far away from us if something happened. Unfortunately our worst fears came true and something did happen. She was hit head on by a reckless driver on her way home from work on Friday 11/17/23. She had been on the Big Island almost 4 months, and after one month she was promoted from sales intern to store manager. She loved it and was excelling at the opportunity she had been provided. She was driving back to her apartment that night after work when another car unexplainably pulled into her lane passing another car and hit her head on at least going 55 MPH. She was miraculously able to pull herself out of her car and was lying on the lava rocks until the ambulance arrived. A passerby at the scene found her phone to call my mom. Thank God she is alive, but she does have serious injuries that so far have required 2 surgeries to her leg and stomach already and are going to require months of rehabilitation to recover from. My mother took the 16 hour journey out to her immediately and will have to spend at least 2 months with her as they determine the steps of her medical treatment and rehab to recovery. We are just praying that the recovery goes well but understand this is going to be a long road. Any money donated will be used to help offset the costs to my mom and dad while my mother stays with my sister during recovery, the loss of wages for my sister who now is unable to work, and any medical bills that we have to pay. The main thing is I don’t want my parents to have to suffer too much financially at this time to make sure Blakely gets the treatment and support she needs. Your generosity in this time of need is more than a financial aid; it represents the kindness of others for a young woman who has experienced a major setback in her life and her dreams. Blakely has the kindest heart and cares deeply about people. She did not deserve this but she is the type of person who will make the best of it. Whether it is through a donation or by sharing this campaign with others, any help you can offer will make a significant difference.
