I am Blake Ashley Gray from Dallas, Texas (DeSoto to be exact) and I am on my way to becoming a physician! I am a proud graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana class of 2013. I recently started the 2 year MEDPREP program at Southern Illinois University to make me a better medical school applicant.
Since moving to Illinois I have encountered financial set backs that depleted my savings. I planned out my expenses prior to coming but I did not account for 4 new tires, a new laptop, or school fees post tuition waiver. That being said, all of the money I saved up for rent and living expenses has been wipped out.
Any money donated by you will go towards
$972.76 school fees
$520 rent
$100/month groceries and gas
12 months of car payments (if possible!)
Getting into this post-baccalaureate program was a huge success for me. Completing this program successfully will result in a bomb MCAT score, acceptance into medical school, and becoming a physician which is a lifelong dream. A family member was selfless enough to be my co-signer for my housing. I will do everything in my power to protect their credit score, I just can't do it by myself.
I have applied to work at my complex which covers my rent, however they are not hiring until the end of August! IF I get the job I will only need to cover 1 months rent, so help with that by
August 1, 2016
would be a wonderful blessing for me and my co-signer!
I personally believe there are not enough people who look like me who do what I hope to do. My dream is to not only make my family proud, but to be the reason why another young woman fulfills her dream to practice medicine. I believe it is my duty AS A XAVIERITE to actively assist aspiring black physicians long after I have achieved my dream. No one can achieve any dream on their own. Please help me achieve m
