What is the definition of a hero? If you type the word, “Hero”, into Google it will tell you that a Hero is, “A person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.” That person is my husband, Mark Blake.
Let me tell you a little bit about this wonder of a man. He does not ask for anything for himself. He takes nothing for granted. He always puts others before himself, and he only wishes good things for people and the world. He is the biggest sports fan in the entire world, he enjoys simple days, and the love that he has for his family and friends is unmatched by any person on the planet. He wakes up every single day with a smile on his face, and his ambitions are higher than the tallest mountain peaks on Earth! Mark has a joy about him that could make anyone happy by just being around him. I love him for his spirit, his heart, and his ability to make the world a better place!

We were due to be married on June 6th, with a large celebration with family and friends. Covid cancelled our wedding plans, and our Dream Disney Honeymoon. We then had a new battle to fight! We all know what the world was like when Covid-19 struck, but for Mark and I, not being allowed to be with each other while he was hospitalized and diagnosed with a Stage 4 Lymphoma, and receiving his first treatment, is a heartache I will never be able to explain. I couldn’t be there to hold his hand, I couldn’t be there to hug him. I could only sit on a couch from our home, and comfort him with my words over the phone, to ensure him, that everything was going to be ok. I am still not allowed to go with him for chemo treatments, which is so very hard. Mark is a thousand times STRONGER and BRAVER than me, because I would have never been able to do what he did by myself.
We opted for an extremely intimate ceremony on our original wedding date, and celebrated our love on June 6th.
Mark is the strongest person that I have ever met. His courage, and his bravery pushes me to be the best version of myself every day! He inspires me every day to find joy in everything, and to keep laughing and loving life.
So, because of that, this is my way to stand up for my Husband, to help him fight this battle every day, and to show him that he is not alone! Mark has an ARMY of support behind him, and I want to show him that the world is #BLAKESTRONG.
I have started this Go Fund Me Account to help further support Mark on his journey to ringing the recovery bell! We all know that medical bills can pile up quickly, but it is not just that. There are everyday expenses that come up constantly, that he needs to better his care and comfort at home while he goes through his treatments and heals his way to recovery! Thank you to everyone who has already supported Mark! We are forever #BLAKESTRONG! <3
I love you Babe! Keep on Fighting! You got this!
With Love,
Laura Blake
