Blake L Recovery Support and Prayer Requests
Donation protected
Last Saturday (4/18) started off as a typical fun-filled day. Blake (4) was having a great time playing with his brothers and cousins while his dad and uncle worked on the yard. The big kids were taking turns on the little 50cc four-wheeler, but decided the sand box would be their next adventure. As they ran off to tackle sand castles and playing in the dirt, Blake got on the four-wheeler and managed to get it started. His dad and uncle quickly jumped off the tractor, running after him to get him to stop, but Blake went over a dirt pile and suffered a severe head injury, despite him having put a helmet on.
911 was called and the EMTs, St. Augusta FD, St. Cloud PD, and the Stearns County Sheriff responded. They quickly called in the Life Link helicopter & he was airlifted down to Children’s Hospital. He had suffered multiple frontal skull fractures causing several internal injuries. After many hours, the amazing staff down at Children’s were able to repair most of the damage and set a plate across his forehead. He was on a ventilator and sedated, but little Blake was a fighter. After 24 hours he was able to have the vent removed and in his raspy little voice he asked for Paw Patrol to be turned on, even though his eyes were still swollen shut. By Thursday, he was able to try taking a few wobbly steps and enjoyed a little grilled cheese and tomato soup. Blake is one of the happiest, sweetest little boys around and he continues to smile through the pain, trying to bring joy to everyone around him.
We humbly ask for your continued prayers for little Blake and his family as they navigate through this difficult time, and if able, a donation to help alleviate the financial burden from his accident. Undoubtedly there will be many rough weeks ahead, and Blake will need all of the love and support of his family by his side.
Much love and appreciation,
The family and friends of Blake L.
A special thank you to our local heroes over at the St. Augusta Fire Department, St. Cloud PD, Mayo Ambulance, and Stearns County Sheriff’s office, along with Life Link and all the staff involved in Blake’s care down at Children’s.
