Blaine was diagnosed with a severe case of diverticulitis on Sunday, March 3. His dad had the same thing when he was only 2 years older than Blaine is now and had to have a colostomy (we are trying everything to avoid the same route for Blaine). He has since been at Baton Rouge General receiving treatment. The doctor on his case is doing everything in his power to avoid surgery, but that means a lengthy hospital stay with lots of scans and a hefty medical bill to follow (even without surgery). On top of this, it looks like he will be out of work for at least a week (possibly more if he has to have surgery).
As of now, his white blood count has dropped from the original number he came in with. However, it has since stalled, and he is still fighting an infection in his intestinal tract. Surgery isn't out of the question at this point, though we are praying the antibiotics will do their job and he'll be able to go home without needing it.
Anyone who knows Blaine knows how hard of a worker he is. He is ready to get home so he can head back to work as soon as possible. Any amount of money that you can give towards his medical bills will help relieve any financial stress and allow him to put all his focus toward getting well.
