Blade's Big Heart
Hello everyone,
Many of you know Blade, my dog, service animal and me boy whose been in my life for the last ten years. Five weeks ago Blade collapsed while outside and was unable to stand on his own. I brought him to the ER vet. He had a heart arrhythmia and a pulse of 300. He was diagnosed with severe congestive heart failure, cardiac valve disease and atrial fibrillation. He almost died that night and would have had he not gone in to the ER. When I left him at the vet to stay over night I was more than half convinced I was saying goodbye. He survived and the docs said with meds his life expectancy would be about a year and a half. Last week he collapsed again and lost all physical ability to function. Another trip to the ER. I didn't expect him to survive the ride. The doc said it was a congestive heart failure relapse and we changed up his meds. He's lost a lot of weight and slips on the hardwood floors, but he still has his warm, happy demeanor with him. At the last visit, the vet offered the option of saying goodbye to him due to his conditions and accumulated costs and I kindly let her know that we're not at that line yet. Over the last five weeks the total cost has reached $3,700. I intend on keeping the ol' boy happy and around for as long as possible. Any amount of help would be extremely appreciated.
