Black Girls LEAD Challenge
Donation protected
I’m so excited to say I have been selected to attend this year’s Black Girls LEAD “BGL” conference!
BGL is a five-day residential conference for girls ages 13-17 from July 28-August 2, 2019. This conference gives girls like me the opportunity to engage in culturally relevant pedagogy, enhance their civic awareness, develop their leadership skills and foster a global sisterhood in a safe and welcoming environment. This summer intensive features a series of panels, lectures, and workshops designed to fortify critical thinking, entrepreneurship, social awareness, financial literacy, college preparation, professional goals, creativity, and more.

While there is no conference fee, there is a resident fee of $1000 that is due early July (next month) in order to secure my spot.
So I am asking for donations to help cover the resident fees of $1000 and airfare to travel to and from Jacksonville, Florida to New York.
Black Girls ROCK! founder, Beverly Bond made a quote that has stuck with me which makes it even more important for me to attend this conference.
Miss Bond said, "Black girls need to know that they matter. They need to see examples of success, leadership, achievement, sisterhood and humanitarianism in abundance so that they can gain confidence in their ability to become their best and greatest selves."
For me it's about leading with a purpose, loving self with a passion and serving like no other with sisters who will not only embrace and love me but inspire me to do more and be better! This is why I want to attend this conference.
Besides when you empower girls, everybody wins. And with that said, as most know I’m a huge fan of paying it forward so any additional funds raised I will use to help fund another girl’s Black Girls LEAD GoFundMe campaign to help her attend as well!
Thank you in advance for any donation or share! It is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Taylor
