♥ Black Trans Woman & Bay Area Native Seeking Mutual Aid to Secure Housing
An active and deeply involved community member within the Bay Area Ballroom Scene was recently laid off from her hospital position after budget cuts were made within her department. After working within healthcare for nearly three years, this sudden loss has put her housing and her survival at risk. The goal of ($6000) is to provide:
(3) Months of safety net in rent.
Cover general living costs (food, transportation to/from interviews & doctor visits, etc).
Maintaining access to hormones & other essential medicine needed for an ongoing treatment she is currently receiving.
Not only has this young woman poured into the local ballroom scene by showing up, walking (winning), and sitting on panel – outside of ballroom – she has helped countless young girls and women navigate their emotions around living in their truth and even assisting them in gaining access to gender affirming care. She also has done work within youth empowerment by co-organizing an annual Youth Gala held every year in collaboration with the SFLGBT Center. And again, she spent years working at the hospital within client coordination and customer satisfaction. This is the first time she has faced housing insecurity after working non-stop for years, so we are calling upon her community to show up in support. ♥
