Black Man In the Holy Land

             
I have been offered an opportunity of a lifetime! Through City College of New York's (CCNY's) study abroad office, I have been accepted to study in Be'er Sheva, Israel at Ben-Gurion University for FIVE months. This is a dream come true! I've always wanted to travel to Israel to explore it's historic, political, and spiritual relevance.

Last semester I completed the requirements for the Film Production BFA program, therefore I will be able to travel with a filmmaker mindset. If that wasn't amazing enough, I'm waiting to hear back from a scholarship program at my school that will cover the expenses. This is going to be an amazing senior year and an experience of a lifetime. I'm asking for $5000, not particularly for the trip, but to help cover the bills while I'm gone.

Over the past year, I've had to work 3 jobs simultaneously and 16 paid gigs just to stay afloat. I did it happily while maintaining a 3.5 GPA. My mother, a woman who somehow always finds a way to make it happen, has so much on her plate already. In regards to other bills, a daughter preparing for her junior year, medicine/ doctor expenses and all the other things I'm forgetting to mention because she disguises it so well.  The least I can do is cover what I've already been taking care of. The $5000 is so that I can leave with some peace of mind knowing that my mom will not have to stress herself out worrying about how she is going to get by.
