Black MAGIC 2023 Retreat

Donation protected

Welcome family, friends, community, and allies,

We are hosting our thrid annual Juneteenth Retreat June 23-25, 2023. It is our goal to continue to offer this retreat at a low cost to attendees and that requires your support. Your donations will go first towards supplementing the operating costs of hosting this retrat which include: Retreat accommodations at AYA House Retreat and food, decor, and other materials needed for the event.

Second, your donations will go towards operation costs that can support Black MAGIC becoming a 501c3 organization. These costs may include 501c3 application, contracting tax and legal consultants, website and logo design, marketing materials, etc.

With your support, we hope our dreams of more sustainable and consistent funding will come to fruition.

With Black love and joy,
Black MAGIC

Here is more background on Black MAGIC's history from last year's campaign:

Black Moving Affinity Group in Community, aka Black MAGIC, is an affinity group of Black dance/movement therapists (DMTs). We strive to strengthen the lives and work of Black DMTs and students by building a community that offers refuge, guidance, fellowship and hope.
We established ourselves in the Multicultural and Diversity Committee (MDC) of the American Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) in February 2020, well before we knew how vital that space would be in the coming years. Since then, we have built an online community of over 50 Black DMTs across the US and internationally. We have held community and healing virtual spaces for each other through ongoing violence towards Black bodies, the global pandemic, and the more insidious harms of white supremacy that we experience daily.
In 2021, we hosted our first FREE in-person retreat that safely brought 20 members of our community together at AYA House Retreat, a Black-owned retreat space in Pennsylvania. This retreat focused on rest and rejuvenation through wellness practices of the African Diaspora.
The generosity of many donors made it happen last year, and we're hoping you can help us do it again.
