Hello friends and champions of the arts!
My name is Elan Davies, and I’m incredibly excited to share BLACK LOVE with you. This show is my debut play as a writer and it's a vibrant, soul-stirring love letter to Black artistry, identity, and relationships, set against the electrifying backdrop of Notting Hill Carnival.
We’re gearing up for an exclusive one-night-only preview at McQueen’s Theatre on May 16th, and with your support, we can bring this production to life in its fullest, most powerful form.
Why BLACK LOVE Matters:
BLACK LOVE isn’t just a play; it’s a celebration. It’s the sound of drums echoing down Ladbroke Grove, the swirl of colors in the streets, and the heartbeat of a community that thrives through love, resilience, and creativity. It explores what it means to love yourself, your culture, and each other in a world that often tries to define you.
This piece is more than personal—it’s for every person who has ever found themselves through art, community, and heritage.
How Your Support Makes a Difference:
To realize the full vision of BLACK LOVE, we need your help. This production features original music, choreography, and stunning design. Every contribution, no matter the size, will directly support:
• Production Costs: Costumes, set design, lighting, and sound to create an immersive world.
• Original Music & Choreography: Bringing the energy and soul of Notting Hill Carnival to the stage.
• Fair Pay for Creatives: Ensuring our talented collaborators are compensated fairly for their work.
• Marketing & Outreach: Making sure BLACK LOVE reaches the audiences it’s meant to inspire.
Why This Moment Matters:
BLACK LOVE marks an important milestone in my journey as a storyteller. As an Award-Winning Mixed Race artist, I’ve been fortunate to share stories on stages and screens, and over the last few years tending to my skills as a writer in schemes with the Royal Court, Burnt Orange Theatre, and the National Theatre.
But BLACK LOVE is something entirely new—a project forged in blood sweat and tears. It’s a chance to not only share this story but to uplift Black voices and artistry in a space where they deserve to shine.
Supporting this fundraiser means more than backing a play—it’s about standing with creativity, community, and culture. Here’s how you can help:
1. Donate: Every contribution, big or small, brings us one step closer to our goal.
2. Share: Spread the word! Share this campaign with your networks and help us reach more supporters.
3. Celebrate With Us: If you can, come see BLACK LOVE at McQueen’s Theatre on May 16th! (ticket deets imminent ;)
I can’t wait to share this journey with you.
With love and light,
Elan Davies
Award-Winning Actor, Writer & Creator of BLACK LOVE
