Black Lives Matter Pasadena Freedom School 2021

#BLMDenaYouth was created to be a safe haven for the youth of Northwest Pasadena . It is a space formed to empower and uplift the youth. 

Northwest Pasadena lacks the programs, tools and resources for youth and young adults to prosper and have a fighting chance in life. The youth deserve a better foundation for success. They deserve to know who they are and where they come from.

Summertime is here, and the youth of Northwest Pasadena will be out of school, thus meaning they will be at the park with no summer programs. This leaves them as targets for the Pasadena police department to harass. The school to prison pipeline is a booming business in AMERIKKKA, predominantly affecting Black youth . WE BLACK LIVES MATTER PASADENA  would like to center summer 2021 on the #BLMDenaYouth in Northwest Pasadena.

We want to create an environment which the youth can experience what it is like to actually have some SUMMERTIME FUN, and also build an environment where they can learn to give back to their community and take control of their own futures. We are asking the community to come together and give the youth in Northwest Pasadena the chance to have a fun, interactive summer.  We want to take away the financial burden from families by providing resources and field trips for the youth free of charge. 

The youth have asked Freedom School to return this summer. This fundraiser is run by Black Lives Matter Pasadena and all funds will go to making Freedom School possible this summer 2021.  The funding will support seven weeks of youth programming, Monday-Saturday and will include weekly field trips chosen by the youth to a group of 25 kids. The programming will be 100% free to all youth who participate; however, there are many expenses including the costs of field trips, transportation, lunch, and supplies.
