Hi, my name is TeKirah (Tee-KY-RAH) , and I’m a nursing student at Emory University, the #1 nursing school in the country. This summer, I’ve bee n selected for a competitive externship at NYU Langone, the #1 hospital in New York. 

As a Black woman in nursing, I’m stepping into a space where we are still underrepresented—only 6.2% of registered nurses are Black, and even fewer are found in critical care units. This externship will give me 2 months of real-world training, preparing me to return for my senior year fully equipped to serve with excellence and representation.

However, I’m currently $4,300 short of what I need to cover housing and travel. Many students have the support of their families to fund experiences like this—but as someone from a low-income background, I’m doing this on my own. I’ve already raised and saved $2,300 through prayer, hard work, and community, and I’m humbly asking for help getting the rest of the way.
