As co-founders of Mt. Mai and YHG, Kim and I have been blessed with talents that have allowed us to step out on our own and become entrepreneurs. Our success and growth would not be a reality without those who left the door open behind them; now we are doing our part to those who come after us. We are the direct result of opportunities created and payed forward by other Black and Brown trailblazers — it is now our turn to fulfill our duty in opening those same doors for the next generation of Black and Brown youth.

We’ve decided to use the proximity of our birthdays (30 days apart) to do an annual give back program for our communities. This year we are fundraising money in partnership with The Black School — an experimental art school teaching radical Black history. Through mentorship, workshops, festivals, and youth engagement, TBS uses art to propose radical alternatives to the current systems of injustices.

The fundraiser will run from today, my birthday 7/7 to Kim’s birthday 8/7. Our goal is to raise at least $3,000 within the next 30 days to help TBS reach their goal to furthering the futures of Black youth. We hope that you, our friends, family, and network will donate, repost, and spread the word to reach this goal.
