We’re sewing the future — one stitch, one story, and one young maker at a time.

Since 2013, Black Girls Sew has been empowering youth through sewing, design, and sustainability. Our programs give young people the confidence, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills to imagine and build something beautiful — both on the sewing machine and in their lives.

Now, we’re ready to bring that magic on the road.

This campaign will fund the creation of the Black Girls Sew Mobile Bus, a traveling sewing and design studio launching in Spring 2027, with a soft launch in November 2025. The Mobile Bus will bring hands-on fashion, upcycling, and entrepreneurship workshops directly to schools and communities across New York City — creating access for youth who might never otherwise step into a creative studio.

We’re raising $20,000 by November 30, 2025 to unlock a $20,000 Matching Impact Grant from the Brooklyn Arts Leadership Collaborative. Every dollar you give this month will be matched — doubling your impact and helping us bring creativity and opportunity to more young people.

Black Girls Sew envisions a world where every individual — regardless of background — has access to the tools and spaces needed to create. Through sewing, design, and sustainability, we inspire youth to develop their voice, build entrepreneurial skills, and make their mark on the world.

Every stitch represents a step toward equity, creativity, and innovation. Our students don’t just learn how to make clothes — they learn how to make possibilities.
