MAIMUNA TOURAY BLACK FEMINISM SUMMER SCHOOL
Donation protected
WHATS UP
Maimuna Touray has been accepted to attend the international school of Transnational Decolonial Black Feminism in the Americas in Cachoeira, Bahia (Brazil).
This summer Maimuna has the amazing opportunity to learn directly from influential Black Feminist leaders such as Kimberle Crenshaw, Angela Davis, Ochy Curiel, Patricia Hill Collins, Gina Dent, and Angela Figueiredo.
From a decolonial radical perspective, they will interrogate topics such as the Prison Industrial Complex, Epistemological Critiques of Eurocentric knowledge production, as well as capitalism and patriarchy. This progressive school will forge connections between theory and practice, while pushing students to discuss the multiplicities of oppression and new strategies for liberation.
WHY IT MATTERS
Maimuna has been working diligently for the past two years, from attending conferences to travelling the world, developing their larger vision for a better world. This vision includes a community land trust that will ensure food and housing for low-income qtpocs and a blockchain application that will allow communities to create lasting economic networks.
Ultimately, attending this school would be critical to furthering their social movement and forging important connections for the future.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
And so, we are seeking your support to cover the cost of their
tuition and housing = $ 1,605
airfare to and from Brazil = $1021
for the deadline for the down payment, March 15th.
With your help, Maimuna will be able to take advantage of this incredible opportunity and get even closer to making their vision a reality.
