Hey! My name is Jenny Desrosiers and I’m a black female photographer & filmmaker based in Los Angeles, CA in the process of raising funds to get myself out of a complicated living situation.
My current apartment situation isn't possible for me to reside in. Due to COVID-19, my main source of income as a music and portrait photographer has been compromised severely with live events being postposed into 2021 and beyond. With the reopening of the city this past month, I’ve able to begin working a little but nowhere near the volume of shoots I usually booked prior to the coronavirus disaster.
Rent hasn't been paid from March-July like most people, bills are backed up, and I need to be able to move out of this current apartment when the lease is up because it is no longer possible for me to reside here.
I do not receive financial support from my parents due to their age, current working situations, and their own bills. Returning back to Boston to reside with my parents is also not a viable option I can fall back on at the moment. I have received some unemployment funds but after paying off some additional bills, I still do not have enough to cover the move.
I’ve been keeping myself float on my own since moving out at the age of 22 three years ago, which is why I’ve come to a place where I need to call upon community support.
I have until early October 2020 to come up with the funds to leave this apartment as I do not have the funds saved up to break the lease with still 3 months remaining on it. Back in March, Nov seemed so far away and I’ve made it this far, I’m almost at the end and I need any additional support I can get.
The lease is up on Nov 1st, 2020 and I would need to find secure housing in Los Angeles before that point.
Any support will be appreciated endlessly and I thank you for your time in reading this far in! I’m praying that everything resolves itself and I’m able to exit this apartment securely.
The total remaining on this apartment has been attached as well.
