Help Stop Systemic Anti-Black Racism

The fight against Anti-Black Racism is required for a more equitable, just, and productive society.

Still, systemic racial inequalities for Black workers persist in Canada – even at the highest levels of Government. This painful reality was admitted by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in his speech to Parliament on June 2, 2020, where he stated:

“Anti-Black racism is real. Unconscious bias is real. Systemic discrimination is real. And they happen here, in Canada”.

The need for effective approaches to challenging systemic racism within our institutions remains at large as Black Public Service Workers are disproportionately underrepresented in the upper levels of Canada’s Public Service despite their many contributions, and diversity and inclusion being one of Canada’s core values.

Our class action lawsuit is a landmark case which seeks to end the historic practice of Black employee exclusion in the Federal Public Service and to directly tackle the systemic barriers which perpetuate a culture of alienation, marginalization, and disadvantage to Black workers.

Recognizing that systemic discrimination is multi-dimensional and may entail intersectional impacts on grounds of race, gender, disability and other identities, our mission is to work collaboratively with the government to develop a framework for Black employees which implements real and lasting systemic changes for future generations to come.

We are urgently seeking your donations to support our efforts in addressing the painful realities faced by past and present Black Federal Public Service Workers. Diverse representation at all levels of the Public Service is required to better serve Canadians and to promote racial equality within our society.

Funds raised will go toward the elimination of systemic discrimination in Canada's Public Service. The unused portion of the fund will be donated to a fund advocating for equity issues for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC).
