Black Arts Theatre Company at UNC!

Hi! We are Black Arts Theatre Company (BATC) at UNC Chapel Hill! We were recently founded by Liz Howard, Class of 2021, with the hopes that students of color will have a place to learn more about theatre in order to feel more comfortable on the stage or behind the scenes. We want to ensure that students of color feel like they belong and receive consistent support for their dreams and interests, so several students came together to establish this theatre company.

We were founded in Spring of 2019 and are in need of your help to raise funds for our future productions. After several donations last year, we were lucky enough to raise enough money to put on a fall show. Our production of BLACK GIRL, INTERRUPTED by LyaNisha Gonzalez, directed by our founder, was a success for our brand new company; it gave us even more determination to create a space for students of color, especially Black students, in the theatre comunity.

It is incredibly important to support Black companies, especially with the current culmination of the Black Lives Matter movement. Please help the voices of Black artists be heard by donating funds for our company.

Thank you so much in advance!
