Black, African & Indigenous Women Climb Pico

Donation protected
Hello! We are the Ombre climbers, a group of Black, Indigenous and African women climbing the highest volcanic peak in North America, Pico de Orizaba. We are a team of 4 women, 3 of which live in DFW USA and 1 woman from Cape Town South Africa.

On November 13th, 2022, we will fly to Mexico City Mexico and use public transportation to a city 2.5 hr east of Mexico city called Puebla where we will begin our acclimatization process by climbing an active volcano, La Malinche - this will be a 2 day 1-night event. We will then travel to the base camp of Pico De Orizaba, where we will start climbing to reach the summit of Pico De Orizaba on November 19th, 2022.

This expedition was created to raise awareness of the lack of diversity in the mountaineering community. We hope to show the world and inspire more POC (people of color) to climb mountains and that we, too, belong and can reach greater heights. The ombre climbers also advocate for mental health, as all of us have experienced depression and anxiety. We climb to inspire others to hike and overcome their mountains.

We are accepting donations to aid in funding this expedition.

We are also partnering with the health-conscious food company Ohm Woke, who offers Sea Moss gel. Irish Sea moss contains 98 minerals out of 102 that the body needs. With your purchase of sea moss, proceeds will be gifted to The Ombre Climbers. Visit the website now and shop for Sea moss. www.ohmwokemeals.com
