Black Activist Group's Housing &Legal Defense Fund

Warriors in the Garden is , a collective of activists dedicated to non-violent protest propelling social and legislative change.  We are seeking a fund for housing for the same reasons that they are seeking a fund for legal defense: safety, security, and societal action. Numerous members of our group and their family members have received death threats, been intimidated and harassed by police, surveilled and live alone in constant fear. A secure combined work and living space that could house a significant number of the warriors would allow us to take care of each other and have a central space for us to work. So far, we have been meeting in small apartments and parks, or meeting over zoom because of Covid-19 concerns. Whatever space we acquire will need a high-tech security system. It would be a space to work and store the means of production for the educational materials which we plan to disseminate. It was also be a space of solitude and solace. A fund for legal defense would be helpful because of both our past experiences and our future work. Our non-violent activism means that sometimes our members are arrested, harassed, and assaulted. So far, we have benefited from the charity of public defenders, but a legal defense team would allow us another layer of protection as well as the ability to take action against the corrupt organizations that oppress our communities.
