On behalf of the Morgan Family, here is the final update on Hailey:
Hailey’s is doing very well. As a matter of fact she will be going back to school on Tuesday! To God be the glory! She is returning to her spunky little self.
Last week we meet with cardiology and had an echo. Everything looks good and stable. Nothing has changed from her last echo a month ago. Thank you Jesus! They will continue to keep a close eye on her. No surgery is needed for now. She started back on Coumadin(blood thinner) on March 31st and is doing great on it.
She finished her PICC line antibiotics last night . Today she will start on an oral antibiotic for the unforeseen future.
We also saw neurology and her neurosurgeon. Her CT scan from last week shows significant improvement. The blood has all been absorbed with the exception of one small spot. The area around will always have some”scar tissue “. Her eye sight is still affected in her right eye. She does feel it has improved some. The doctors said it could come back in a week, a month, a year, or it may never come back. We know God is in control and his timing is perfect. She will start OT (occupational therapy) next week to help her mind and body adjust to her vision.
We want to thank you all for everything. We could not have taken care of Hailey without all the love, support and prayers. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It is so true when they say it takes a tribe to raise a child.
Please continue to pray for the restoration of her eye sight and for her heart to stay strong and clear from infection. We also pray that she will finish off the last 5 weeks of school with minimal stress and just enjoy her the final weeks of her Senior year. We serve a Mighty God and believe He has Hailey in the palm of His hands.
On behalf of the Morgan family, I am sharing Hailey’s story :
“A week ago on March 5th our world was rocked. Hailey was taken by ambulance to the hospital where they discovered she had a brain bleed. She had emergency surgery the next morning. They removed a hematoma in the back of her brain the size of a golf ball and inserted a drain on the top of her head to drain the blood out. She has been doing pretty good since then. Each day she shows improvement. God is good! Her vision has been impacted the most. She cannot see out of her right eye and has limited vision in her left.
Just yesterday we were rocked again by the news that she has an infection. This is terrifying for the average person but even more so for someone who has artificial heart valves. They did an MRI last night and see no sign of infection in the brain. They also did a CT scan of the brain to see how the drainage is going. It has showed improvement. They have taken blood to grow cultures to figure out just what kind of infection they are dealing with. This will take time. They are aggressively using antibiotics to treat whatever it is in the meantime.
Please pray the infection does not affect the valves and the antibiotics work quickly.
God is good and faithful and we know he hears our prayers .
She has physical therapy and occupational therapy working with her daily . They have her up and out of bed multiple times a day walking the hallways and sitting up in her chair. Shes in good spirits and remembers everything.
Thank you to all who have reached out with your love and support. We are so very blessed!”
The road to recovery will be a long one for Hailey and this precious family has an immediate need for our prayers and financial support. Hailey is expected to spend at least 3 weeks in the hospital (currently still in the ICU) and Heidi and Jerry are exactly where they need to be - which is right by her side- but that also means that they are missing work and the medical bills are accumulating. This is not at all how the Morgan family expected to be spending Hailey’s senior year of high school but they stand firmly on their faith and believe that Hailey’s testimony is already impacting the lives of others and will continue to do so!!!
This is a call to action for prayers and if you’re able, please contribute and /or share. No amount will go unappreciated.
