Connor's Crusade

Connor is a fun loving, energetic, charismatic 15-year old boy. He comes from a large family of 2 sisters, 6 brothers, 1 brother in law, and 3 sisters in-laws. His father is a Sergeant at our local Police Department and has served his community faithfully for 29 years and his mother is an Office Manager for a Pediatrician's Office.

On Friday, June 9, 2017, Connor's world turned upside down. Minding his own business while in school, this otherwise healthy boy, had a grand mal seizure, falling from his desk and waking up in an ambulance on his way to Bryn Mawr Hospital. There, the Doctors told us there was nothing wrong.

On Monday, June 12, 2017, Connor had another grand mal seizure at school, this time he was taken by his parents to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.  Two days later, we would all learn that Connor's seizure happened because of a brain tumor. After this, Connor was put on massive doses of anti-seizure medications to help control his seizure activity.  On August 29, 2017, Connor had his first Craniotomy and Resection of tumor. He was monitored at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for a week post-op and then allowed to go home, still on massive amounts of anti-seizure medications.

In October 2017, Connor was readmitted to CHOP for one week for recurring seizure activity.  At this time, his medications were adjusted. Because of the debilitating affects of the anti-seizure medications, Connor has been unable to attend regular school and is tutored from home.

After almost a year of tests, an increase of anti-seizure medications and debilitating affects from these medications, an EEG and a MRI confirmed that there was a second brain tumor that was causing the same seizure activity as the first that was resected before, and a decision was made to schedule another surgery.

Connor will be admitted to CHOP on February 25, 2019 for an Awake Craniotomy and Resection. This time it must be done awake because the tumor is lying on the speech and language center of his brain, and the neurosurgeon must confirm that he does not impede Connor in anyway while resecting the tumor.

Connor and his family still have a long road ahead of them. His Mom and Dad, especially, have to take off massive amounts of time off work to care for Connor on a daily basis because he cannot be left alone with his seizures. This care will just increase after this next surgery. We know these are difficult times for everybody, but if you could spare something, our entire family would be grateful.
