Finn and Rory’s Fighting Fund
Donation protected
On Wednesday, 3 February, my best friend Nikki, her husband Mike and their son Eli (4yrs) welcomed their twin boys into the world unexpectedly at 14 weeks early.
Finn Joseph and Rory John McCullough were born prematurely weighing in at just 900 and 800 grams respectively.
Both boys are currently in the Neonatal Unit of the Royal Brisbane Hospital receiving the very best care as they continue to bravely fight the very serious odds against them. Nikki and Mike have been told that the boys will be in hospital for around 3 months.
As you can appreciate, this is a very traumatic time for Nikki, Mike, Eli, their family and friends, as they come to deal with this unexpected event in their lives. It is often difficult to know how to help in circumstances like these, without making the situation more emotional and further stressful for those involved. This is why I have decided, with their permission, to create ‘Finn and Rory’s Fighting Fund’. It is hoped that together, we can ease the immediate financial burden on the McCullough family and allow them to focus on their beautiful sons’ health, as well as their own mental and emotional wellbeing. Nikki has had to finish work well ahead of time, this alone has placed a financial burden upon them, not to mention the many unexpected costs associated with caring for premature babies and the day to day bills that are being accrued. I want to make the coming months as easy as possible for Nikki and Mike and help them with anything possible, from the parking fees they pay each day to visit their sons at the hospital to making sure they don't have to stress about paying an every day bill.
Please, if you are able to give any kind of donation, it will be very gratefully received and will help this little family more than you’ll ever know. Thank you for being a part of this very personal and emotional campaign – I have no doubt together, we can make a difference in the lives of these precious little boys and their family. Please keep them all in your continued thoughts and prayers. If you are interested in keeping up with the Little Fighters Journey, Mike has been writing a blog. Feel free to take a look at it at www.roryandfinn.blogspot.com.au
Many heartfelt thanks, Libby Malone
