My uncle is an honest, committed, and hardworking man. He is a father and a husband. To support his family, he opened a Beauty store in Chicago. As the Black Lives Matter protests reached larger cities, peaceful protests sometimes turned violent. Unfortunately, his shop fell victim to the violence that followed. His store was looted, and then, completely burned down. Without his shop, he has no source of income and therefore has no way of supporting his family. Contacting his insurance company was not enough either. He has to pay what his insurance does not cover out of his own pocket. What is more, it’s only been two years since he opened his business. My uncle started small and saved enough money to open this store. Now, all of his hard work disappeared within the flames in a blink of an eye. Peaceful protests and having voices heard through the Black Lives Matter movement is essential and necessary but violence is not the answer in bringing about meaningful change. He is saddened for all of the innocent victims that are affected throughout these trying times. We are well aware that my uncle’s family is not the only family affected by this. However, by helping each other we can rebuild together. Therefore, please consider donating to help my uncle get back on his feet. We hope to pay it forward.
