LOOK OUT THERE'S A MONSTER COMING!!
Greetings. Robert Troch producer of the Brooklyn Halloween Show speaking. It's been 10 years since our first Brooklyn Halloween Show starring Dr. Frankenstein, The Wolfman and the Frankenstein monster. It's hard to believe how fast the years have flown by. Little did we know how big and cool it was all going to become. So big that we are asking for contributions to make this year's epic adventure happen.
Imagine this. An annual, live, free outdoor Halloween show on a stage in the street. Every year it's a different show featuring plenty of humor, blood, entertainment, cool costumes and monsters fighting. A little bragging here....we feel that our live annual show is pretty special, and so do the 2,000 plus people that come to see it every year.

So why do we do this every year? It's not our job, and we aren't paid a dime for months and months of work. We actually pay for most of it out of our own pockets. So why do we do it? Because we love the kid that lives in all of us. We love monsters, Halloween, sci-fi and thoroughly enjoy the group energy and creativity, while having the chance to entertain and shock our audience. We are totally satisfied when we give a kid a "Halloween scare" and see him or her return the next year to do it all again. We very much appreciate the thanks we get for going for what many consider the extra mile, while to us it is something we just love to do and enjoy.
Now here's the catch. In our efforts to do something new each year, the show has grown in production value and story. The time, effort and money required grows larger, and in addition to our regular lives, jobs and families, it has finally reached the end. Besides it is said that the time comes when you know you are done. When it's time to move one to something else. That time has come for us and we want to end the Brooklyn Halloween Show on this our 10th year with the biggest, longest, most expensive and best show we have ever done. We don't want to wait until we have to stop. We want to go out while we still love it. We want to be able to look back on the 10 years with all the pride in the world, while giving our audience something to remember.

To do this we need your help. In 2012 we used Kickstarter. Other years we set up a donation box. We have even done live commercials for local business during the shows! All this has helped "somewhat" but it would never come close to helping us reach our goal this year. We need your donations right now to make it happen on Saturday October 31, and we are well on the way to doing that. Work began on the script back in January and once we knew what was needed we started recruiting the extra talent and people needed. The lumber costs alone for this show alone will be at least $3,000. Material for costumes and makeup. Sound equipment rental, lights, paint, effects, props, audio/visual help and 20 people now involved in the pre show production with a few more set to jump on board when the time comes. Needless to say it ain't going to be cheap!
So, here's the deal we want to make with everyone who contributes. Many of these online contribution campaigns devote a large amount of their asking donation to the "rewards" like T shirts, cups, DVD's etc. These rewards drastically inflate the asking number and we think that is pretty silly when most of the contributions should go to the show itself and be seen in the production! Isn't that why we all contribute in the first place? To "support the cause?" However we would also like to provide a chance for our contributors (especially those that can't make it to the show on Halloween) to have some kind of momento. If the Brooklyn Halloween Show reaches our goal each and every contributor will receive a T-shirt of this year's show poster. Our posters are always pretty cool and we feel the T-shirt would be the best memory you could have. OF course that means if the campaigning DOESN'T hit the goal no one gets a T shirt. Yeah, we know....boooooooo!
We take pride and joy in the Brooklyn Halloween Show and hope you as a contributor can do the same. Please take a ride with us and follow us all the way to the big day on Saturday, Oct. 31! We will post regular updates through photos and videos and even interviews. Not to mention videos of previous shows, behind the scenes stuff., and short "surprise" videos leading up to the show itself. Oh yes! And a very cool piece of news. A filmmaker has been shooting a documentary about our year's journey to this our last show, and while it will take time to put it all together we expect to see it sometime next year. Hope you can join us all for that as well! Again thanks for helping to support the best Halloween Show in Brooklyn.
Thanks,
Robert Troch
