Team Kimberly

Hello, my name is Silvia, and I am a volunteer interpreter for an entity in New Orleans that helps future mothers during pregnancy and during the first 4 years after pregnancy. That's how I met Kimberly (3), Karen's daughter. Karen is one of the mommies in my classes. She signed up to take her classes and be a better mom to her 4 children. She finished the first 6 months of school and soon after, one of her girls, Kimberly, was diagnosed with Leukemia. Karen and Jose, Kimberly's father, do everything possible to maintain the harmony and the finances of the home. Jose works in construction when he is able to, considering how he helps take the children to and from school and medical visits, and also helps at home cooking, washing clothes, and taking care of Luciana (1), Kimberly's little sister, Joshua (6) her brother and Lauren (15) the oldest of the four siblings. Karen spends hours, days and even entire months in the hospital while Kimberly receives chemotherapy. Kimberly's diagnosis will require about 3 years of chemotherapy, hospitals and strict medical attention. The Lira family is originally from Honduras, and unfortunately, there are no other relatives here in the United States who can help the family. We trust that God will be in the midst of all this helping them get ahead and touching the hearts of all of us to help them a little financially.

Hola mi nombre es Silvia y soy interprete voluntaria para una entidad en New Orleans que ayuda a futuras mama durante el embarazo y durante los primeros 4 anos pos-embarazo. Asi conoci a Kimberly (3), hija de Karen. Karen es una de las mamis en mis clases. Ella se registro para tomar sus clases y ser una mejor mama para sus 4 ninos. Culmino los primeros 6 meses de clases y poco despues una de sus ninas, Kimberly, fue diagnosticada con Leucemia. Karen y Jose, papa de Kimberly, hacen lo imposible para mantener la armonia y economia del hogar. Jose trabaja en construccion cuando puede ya que ayuda llevando y trayendo a los ninos a la escuela, visitas medicas, tambien ayuda en casa a cocinar, lavar ropa, y atender a Luciana (1), la hermanita menor de Kimberly, Joshua (6), el hermano y Lauren (15) la mayor de los cuatro hermanos. Karen se dedica a pasar horas, dias y hasta el mes completo en el hospital mientras Kimberly recibe quemioterapia. El diagnostico de Kimberly requerira unos 3 anos de quemioterapia, hospitales y atencion medica estricta. La familia Lira es horiunda de Honduras y lamentablemente, no hay otros familiares aqui en Estados Unidos que puedan ayudarlos. Confiamos que Dios estara en medio de todo esto alentandolos para salir adelante y tocando el corazon de todos nosotros para ayudarlos un poquito economicamente.
