The sound of your name should feel like someone calling you home. However, for many transgender and nonbinary people, the financial cost of a name change petition means they are tethered to a legal name that brings them pain and dysphoria.
Our wonderful Dominique is in just this position. This year, they grew and blossomed into their nonbinary identity. This journey led Dominique to a name that fits their gender identity and expression.
This Christmas, I wanted to surprise Dominique with the $250 dollars needed to file a name change petition. However, money is extremely tight at the moment because I am required to work for free in my clinical graduate school placement.
I understand this is a difficult time for most people, but if you can spare a few dollars or share this fundraiser, we could make Dominique's dream come true. We love you all so much and grateful for your friendship and the support you have shown both of us.
