About Brian:

Specialist Brian K. Arsenault, Bronze Star recipient, was valiantly killed in action on September 4th, 2014 while serving with Company B, 1st Battalion 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division in Ghazni, Afghanistan.
Brian was a 28 year old native of Northboro, Massachusetts and a 2004 graduate of Algonquin Regional High School. He was an avid hockey player, starting off as a squirt in the Starhawks Youth Hockey organization and continuing through his time at Algonquin. Brian never stopped skating and was a regular at North Star Youth Forum in Westborough, Massachusetts. Whether it was working summer camps, skating at stick-time, or regularly rotating through various men's league teams, Brian could usually be found at the rink.

About the project:

The donations will fund a flagpole memorial in honor of Brian at North Star Youth Forum. Due to the time he spent there and his passion for hockey, the rink is the ideal place to honor Brian. The memorial will commemorate his service as well as his love for recreational activities and the community in which he lived. It will feature a pentagon shaped granite border, walk-in brick paver patio, benches and granite seating walls, and a plaque honoring Brian. It will be highlighted by a 30-foot illuminated flagpole, located to the left of the main entrance of the North Star Youth Forum.

How the money will be used:
100% of the donations will go towards the materials and construction of the memorial. If we exceed our goal, all additional funds will be saved and put toward future maintenance costs. If we should fall short, modifications will be made to materials and certain design elements, but the memorial will still be constructed.
Contributors:
I would like to thank the North Star Youth Forum Board of Directors for allowing us to use the space for the memorial. The project aims to combine efforts through various local businesses as well as individuals. There have already been numerous people involved in the planning and design of the memorial, but there is still much to contribute.
Also, I can't go without mentioning our very first donation. This whole project started when a group of local hockey players organized a tournament at North Star on the night before Thanksgiving to honor Brian. Together, they raised $4480!
Other Information:
The memorial construction should be finalized by the first few weeks in October, 2016 (stay tuned for more details and/or volunteering needs).
Donations can also be made to:
