I need help getting a used car.

Hi. I'm Jim Abbott, and I need help. I turned 63 this year and while life has never been easy, I never expected things to go south so quickly, if you will. I am on Social Security but that barely covers the rent and other bills. etc. I have worked in the movies as background for a dozen years and have written a book, which helped my wife and me in the past, but the recent strike in the film biz has really made it hard to get by. I made the decision to start my SS at 63 and it has helped and was getting additional income in little bits doing videography for a local production company. Then yesterday on my way home from a job the radiator hose blew up on me and left the car basically unusable. I replaced the hose this morning and put fresh coolant but 5 miles down the road it started to overheat and spew fluids all over, and basically told me that it is time to give it up. This car has 309000 miles on it, and the previous on had 420000 on IT when it finally died. Im not picky about a car, as long as it gets me to work and back safely, but now I have no car. My wife has her car but need it for her jobs, and I am pretty desperate to get a used car ASAP, because I have a job lined up a few miles away and no way to get there.

I hate to ask for help, but have in the past and you friends (and strangers) came through so sweetly. Its humbling. I recently began spending my Sunday afternoons doing outreach work with a foundation in Atlanta that helps feed and clothe the homeless, and in so doing have met some incredible people on both sides of that story. I am fortunate to have a roof over my head but I know that can change quickly if Im not able to get to work, just when I secured a steady part time job. Please help if you can.
