Hi everyone! Please consider contributing to this fundraiser for my thesis short film, Down the Donut Hole. Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thank you!
LOGLINE:
A student’s fear of sex, which prevents him from expressing his feelings to the person he loves, unravels as donuts are mysteriously and recurrently delivered to his dorm room.
DESCRIPTION:
This thesis short is an absurdist comedy-drama and coming-of-age story inspired and influenced by films such as Big, Days of Being Wild, Risky Business, and Groundhog Day, with an Alice in Wonderland twist. At the start of the pandemic, I read a news story about a man in Belgium who had pizzas mysteriously delivered at his door everyday for nine years, making him go into a frenzy of paranoia. I wanted to tie this absurd tragic element to an aspect that I feel is not often tackled, even on college campuses: male sexual insecurities. In this context, I chose the donut, which I view as a comfort food that reminds us of our childhood and innocence, as a catalyst, an element that purposely distracts the protagonist from doing what he truly desires: communicate his feelings to the person he loves. The film is about his fight against himself, against his fears, but most importantly, against the donut.
