Hi! I am Stephanie Ponce. I am a student of Bob Jones University studying Elementary Education. By God's grace, I have the opportunity to be part of the Cuba for Christ Missions Trip. As you may well know, Cuba is an island nation that had endured severe economic hardships and communist oppression. In spite of the government's repressive attitude towards all churches, there is a revival taking place among evangelical believers who have been actively sharing their faith. Currently, the church in Cuba may be the fastest growing expression of biblical Christianity in the Western Hemisphere. I want to take part of this!
Lord willing, on the dates of May 27 through June 12, 2017, I will join 9 other BJU students and our team leaders, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Vowels, faculty and staff of BJU, on the first ever Bob Jones missions trip to Cuba. My desire is to be exposed to what God is doing behind the closed doors of this communist country. As a future educator, I am also excited for the opportunity to be ministering to teens and children in Eastern Cuba near Guantanamo Bay. We will also be helping renovate a house church and participating in evangelism in Western Cuba near Havana.
I'm requesting your help in two ways. First, in keeping me in your prayers. Please pray as I prepare my heart to go be a blessing to fellow believers. Also for the Cubans, that the Lord might prepare their hearts to hear the gospel with understanding. If the Lord has put it in your heart, I am also requesting your economic help. The cost of this missions trip is $1,800. This amount will cover airfare from Miami, visa, ground transportation, food, and housing. Lord willing, I'll be turning in the full amount by May 12.
