Help a Veteran and his Service Dog

SAD UPDATE:  Bolt suffered a relapse this week, resulting in a collapsed lung, uncontrolled fluid accumulation and cardiac issues. Ryan made the difficult decision to put Bolt out of his suffering this afternoon.

This dog was a true angel and Ryan's best friend, and Ryan is utterly devastated and lost.  They were inseparable buddies for four years and it feels so unfair their time together was far too short. Thanks to all who send donations, well wishes, thoughts and prayers. These past three weeks gave Ryan the time to say goodbye....it was a wonderful gift.

Hi everyone and thank you for stopping here. My name is Bethany and I have a 35 year old son Ryan who is an Afghanistan Veteran with TBI and PTSD. He lives in central Mass with his service Dog Bolt. Ryan is on full disability with the VA. For the past four years he has been attached 24/7 to his VA approved service dog, Bolt. They are never separated. Bolt went with my son to college everyday, helping him get his degree. He went with Ryan everyday to the local school this year where Ryan was teaching Special Needs kids.

Our issue is that Bolt is not yet six years old and is now very ill and currently in ICU at Tufts Vet Hospital. Ryan is on a very limited income stream, and the VA is being uncooperative in paying for Bolt's bills. Ryan has spent $8000 in past two days that he has no way to pay back and now looking at another $10,000 for chest tube, Ct scan-guided biopsy, and other costs.

Ryan is a very proud and private person and does have difficulty accepting help. And he definitely needs help. He is separated from his best friend now for the 1st time in four years and is just completely utterly gutted and lost.

Anything you can give to Ryan and Bolt would be such a gift. These funds will go directly to Ryan to pay for Bolt's medical expenses. Deep thankyous from my heart to everyone who has given us your time and attention today.
