BJM Families Together provides a months-long basketball experience for all children from Kindergarten through 5th grade. The program is free to players but maintained via the generous contributions from the school community.
BJM has a long history of exceptional basketball players and overall stellar athletes and students.
Included in that experience is participation in the Ithaca City School District/Ithaca Youth Bureau Elementary basketball league for 3rd-5th grade teams. They play competitive games during an 8-week long schedule culminating with the 5th grade teams competing in a district-wide tournament in March.
As part of the league BJM Families Together covers, league fees ($500), jersey costs ($1500-2000), tournament costs ($300), concessions for home games ($750) and gifts for all the players at an end-of-the-season banquet ($1500-2000).
Kindergarten through 2nd grade players participate in a developmental program that mixes skill development and some scrimmages to develop a love for the game.
Volunteers help make all the little things work. Our coaches, transportation assistants, concessions, scorekeepers and program coordinators all donate their time.
All funds received will be distributed to the BJM Families Together general fund to help supplement the cost of the BJM Basketball Program. Additional funds raised will provide our volunteers with thank you gifts as well as look for additional ways to support our families and players with transportation solutions and additional scholarships to other programs where players can continue their basketball journey. Remaining funds may be used on other sports activities provided by BJM Families Together.
