Friends, this was shared with a small group of people over the summer. I am casting a wider net, as this family could still use our help. To those who already donated, thank you so much!
Dizzle (Justin)- the man, the myth, the legend- could use our help. He has been in and out of the hospital for the past several months - once to have an open heart surgery - only to find out he had cancer in his kidney. Doctors have successfully removed the kidney and the cancer which is so, so amazing. However, he has a long road ahead. We all know how horrible medical bills can be. Let’s come together to help this beautiful family with these very unexpected costs.
Please see Elee’s more detailed update below:
“Back in March, my husband collapsed on the floor while he was scooping ice cream, and was rushed to the hospital. He was in and out of the hospital until July, where he was rushed to University Hospital to have an almost 7 hour open heart and lung surgery to remove, what we would later discover, tumors from his lungs and heart, and repair a hole in his heart that a tumor was in, about to break loose, and go straight to his brain.
Less than a month later, early August, it was another emergency surgery to remove his right kidney that had a stage 3C cancer tumor that had taken over almost the entire kidney, and had moved into, and was blocking his vena cava. It was the largest staffed surgery that had ever happened in that hospital, with 5 specialist teams in the same room, saving his life.
I was told multiple times, Justin wouldn’t survive. To get things in order. Make plans for the future as a single parent.
The surgery was a success. I remember the lead surgeon was surprised when he told me they got the cancer. All of it, and Justin would be fine.
Unfortunately, they didn’t get it all. Broken parts of the tumor had passed through the Vena Cava, and now he currently has multiple tumors in both his lungs.
The result, 2 years of chemo.
But in this picture, we look like the perfect, happy little family. Without a care in the world. The reality is, we have a lot of worries. Luckily, our beautiful daughter is growing up healthy and happy, and she still has her daddy.
I get overwhelmed easily these days. And the love hate of social media has turned more to hate. If you don’t hear from me, it’s me, not you. I’m just trying to balance it all. But I wanted you to know, I’m still here, Indira is growing up so funny and sweet and just so damn smart. And Justin is a warrior, even though most days I know he doesn’t feel that way.
Until next time, squeeze your loved ones a little tighter because you just don’t know when or how everything will change”
