Hi, We are a tiny group in Australia raising funds for the Bizoha Women Empowerment Centre (BWE). The funds will allow BWE to self-manage providing micro loans to members and their local community.

BWE was founded in Kasese Uganda in 2017. Ngabirwe Phiona, senior teacher at the Kasese Humanist School saw the need to educate, train and empower women, often young single mothers, suffering poverty and bad treatment. The group supports and enables women to start their own small businesses and to pay school fees and medical costs for themselves and their children. It has been successful in lifting its original members out of desperate conditions and is now providing role models and mentorship to a growing number of women in its local area.

The BWE leaders are well organised and are managing a micro-loan system well. The loans are typically around $300 and are paid back in a year or less. Loans help the members to become self-supporting, and the interest that they pay helps the group to expand its numbers and its influence. This in turn will help the women and their children stay in school longer and reduce teenage marriages and/or pregnancies.

Our Australian support group aims to raise at least three thousand Australian dollars to provide a stronger base for the micro-loan venture and allow it to succeed and grow. We will send whatever we have raised in October 2025 and again in April 2026 to simplify BWE's planning and administration.
