Biting back at Lyme Disease
Donation protected
Hello all,
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. After a long 9 year battle, being in and out of doctors and hospitals with no real answers to my health problems, I’ve finally found a doctor who has diagnosed me with Lyme Disease. For the next two or so years, I need ongoing treatment and medications to get myself back to feeling 100% again, and with this comes huge costs that the everyday person can not afford as we get no funding or financial assistance from the Australian Government.
So, what is Lyme disease you ask?
Lyme disease is an infectious illness caused by the bacterium known as Borrelia, which creates a condition more correctly known as Borreliosis or Lyme Borreliosis. The bacteria, a spirochete, is transmitted when an individual is bitten by a vector usually a Tick. Lyme disease manifests as a multi-systemic illness that can result in symptoms affecting random parts of the body including the muscles, joints, organs, brain, gastro-intestinal and neurological systems.
Now unfortunately I do suffer from a number of health issues and if I begin to list everything we will be here reading this all day, but just briefly my major concerns are my eye deterioration, fatigue, tremors and the continuous aches and pains I feel everyday in my muscles and joints.
I would really appreciate your support and help. Please know it would mean the world to me and my family. X
