Do you remember my Dad, Bishop Edward L. Jones. He gave his life to the Church of God of Prophecy. But the Church has turned their back on him financially. I don't think it's fair or Christian like for the Church to do this. My Dad sacrificed his family and all he had to serve the Church. Now he lives in poverty and destitute. Often I see people praising the glorious Church of God of Prophecy. Well the Church of God of Prophecy is not all that glorious in my eyes. Even my Dad believed in it with his whole heart and he had to plead to the Church for financial help after his retirement , but to no avail. The Church did not provide any retirement package for my Dad. However, a retirement package was provided for those who retired before him. So after his retirement he was booted out like a piece of old garbage. This is wrong and ungodly. I believe to Church owes him a life after retirement. If you agree like this post and please share.
Message from my brother. This is my father before, in his youth and now today in his senior years. My sister, who cares for him, posted this. He served his entire life in a church organization known as The Church of God Of Prophecy, which was founded in the early 1900's, originally known as The Church of God.
This church was and is based in rural Tennessee, near the North Carolina border, which is historically known to be very actively involved in slavery and racism. However, this young bold, attractive young black minister, became one of it's pioneers and is responsible for bringing in a large portion of its members and their families over the years. My father, Bishop E.L. Jones, was and is that man. The first black man to be appointed to headquarters and during a time when racism was commonly practiced in the south including the Church of God of Prophecy. Obviously, the church administration has forgotten about him and care not to know that he is even still alive. Racism and inequality is still prominent in America. This is a true story with much more to tell.
If we are truly people of compassion, then be PROACTIVE, not reactive. Do what your heart tells you to do. And if you are still part of this organization please take serious note because you will be next. In my eyes the Church of God of Prophecy took advantage of my Dad and when he could no longer serve them they discarded him out and quickly forgot he ever existed. My Dad joined this Church at a very young age and he was very instrumental in recruiting many members from all over the world., especially black and brown people. We see what's happening in the world to black and brown people today. What has happened in the Church of God of Prophecy is no different.
Please donate to help me provide medical needs for this man of God.
