TW: Sick Pet, pet mortality
Hi there, my name is Laura and I live in Oregon with my three sweet Kitty children and my wonderful boyfriend, Kyle. My beloved kitten Daniel has been very sick for about a month now. This 10 month-old trouble maker is an evil genius, an aggressive cuddler, and a passionate biscuit maker. Unfortunately, his illness has progressed to a very serious point where his time on this human infested planet may be ending; but let me tell you that Kyle and I are fighting like hell to save him.
He was diagnosed with Dry/Neuro FIP which has an almost 100% mortality rate without treatment. There is a vaccine in production that has a very high cure rate but it is not officially available in the US. We have started Daniel on this path thanks to an amazing online community called FIP Guardians. This group advocates for and supports the right to save our cherished family members from certain death. Due to the lack of access to these treatments, they are extraordinarily expensive, not supported by insurance, and you cannot receive official veterinary care and support.
As I said earlier in the post, we are still going through the treatments despite how far along he is due to the possibility of saving his life. I have never been one to ask for personal charity but I am currently brainstorming ideas on how to raise some supplementary funds for treating my sweet boy. I am currently planning on laying a Hash House Harriers trail similar to Pent-hash-thlon where I hare one giant trail through all 5 regions of Portland. 100% of what I raise will go towards Daniel’s treatment and any additional funds will be donated to FIP Warriors. The exact cost is still unknown since the dosage can change depending on weight gain and loss, variation in length of treatment needed, illness severity, etc. I was also going to carve some little wooden cats as thank you’d to folks that donate more than $200.
We really need a little hope and love right now and anything helps. I love y’all.
