Biscuits for Breakfast by Gareth Farr, is an exciting new project coming to Camden Fringe (Courtyard Theatre Hoxton, 9-11th August) by Kaleidoscope Collective Arts in collaboration with Hackney Food Bank!

About our situation and why we need you!
We need your help to bring this amazing, urgent and heartfelt piece of work to life!! The production, for the creatives, is being undertaken on a voluntary basis with any profit made being divided between creatives as payment for their work, we are also currently putting our own money in from muggle jobs to try and cover costs, but we have realised we cannot do this alone!

We are also donating one item of non perishable food for every ticket sold to our amazing partner Hackney Food Bank, and as such your money would help go towards us paying for the donations, the performance rights, rehearsal space, performance venue, marketing, as well as bringing our amazing design to life!! We cannot do this without you and hope that you'll help us help others too!

With the ever increasing costs of making fringe theatre we cannot do this without your help and would love any support you may be able to offer! We know times are tough for everyone right now so this is our way of sharing around what we have while making work and we would love for you to help us in that mission!

About the play
Stylistically the work is a tender, funny and thought provoking two-hander exploring life on the breadline. Through a series of intimate everyday moments, the play follows a Paul, a hotel chef who unexpectedly looses his job and Joanne, a care leaving concierge at the same hotel, navigating love, pride and survival as financial pressures begin to shape every aspect of their relationship.

Set to a backdrop of seaside decline and government underfunding the play shines a light on food poverty and the unseen emotional toll financial hardship can place on relationships behind closed doors. At its core, the play explores the resilience, companionship and determination required to keep going when stability feels out of reach.

About our collab with Hackney Food Bank
Our collaboration is designed to bring about meaningful change surrounding the themes of the show. Through this partnership, the company will donate a non-perishable food item for every ticket sold and encourage audiences to bring canned or non-perishable donations to performances themselves too! The collaboration aims to strengthen community engagement while providing practical support alongside the storytelling.

About the company
Kaleidoscope, are a new collective of people dedicated to bringing working-class stories to the stage by a team that believes in placing community engagement at the heart of its work. We are committed to championing working-class creatives and using theatre as a tool for connection, conversation, and change. Through socially engaged storytelling and community partnerships, we seek to create work that reflects real lived experiences and sparks meaningful conversations.

Together we believe we can enjoy live theatre and bring about meaningful active change at the same time!

Any other donations or offers of help wether that is marketing support, spare hands to help us run front of house or even just shouting about us on social media would all be greatly greatly appreciated too!!

Lots of love x
Georgia, Jon-Luke, Sabina, Veli, Charity, Alexander, Daniel, Alexader, Alex and Chakriya
