Last night I was pondering what to do for Alex’s birthday when a wheeky little guinea pig told me that all the animals at The Pipsqueakery wanted to help do something special for her too. Mortimer told me that the animals came up with an idea to raise money for The Pipsqueakery for Alex’s birthday, but they couldn’t agree on what to do with the money.
Some of the hamsters wanted to buy more treats and toys for Alex’s birthday. Other hamsters thought they should raise money for the vet fund to support their elderly compatriots.
Most of the guinea pigs wanted more butternut squash but also thought they should raise money to build the screened in guinea pig run outside.
The rats wanted to raise money for more air purifiers because they know how sensitive Kelpie’s nose is.
The chinchillas just wanted to get out of their cages to eat the walls, but if they couldn’t do that they would settle for more hammocks and some dust for Alex.
The degus wanted more corn cobs and maybe a few extra food bowls but they thought their entertainment value was enough of a gift to Alex.
The gerbils thought they should raise money for more bedding in hopes that Alex would slip them a few extra inches for their tunnels. The mice agreed with the gerbils, but also hoped that they could get a few extra cardboard tunnels out of the deal.
The rabbits were totally with the guinea pigs on the outdoor run, but they also wanted a few more litter boxes and some oat hay.
None of the animals could agree on what they wanted to do for Alex’s birthday so in his great wisdom Mortimer proposed a competition to see who could raise the most money. He divided the animals into teams by their species and told them to start posting to raise money! Mortimer set the goal at $10,000 because he figured if they reached that goal they could give Alex everything they thought she needed. Plus, $10,000 must be enough to buy some extra butternut squash and a few dentals for him and Finny too.
So, here’s how this is going to go. When you donate you will pick one of the Pipsqueakery Residents off the list below to sponsor with your donation. There can be multiple sponsors for each animal. At the end of each day the total each animal raised will be updated by their name on the list and their funds will go towards their team’s total raised. Which team do you want to win? Who has the best goals? What do you think Alex should get for her birthday?

P.S. Here’s an example of how this works. Say person X donates $5 to sponsor Booger, person Y donates $10 to sponsor Luna, and person Z donates $15 to sponsor Drusilla. That means that The Hamster Hamsters would have raised $20 total and The Chewing Chinchillas would have raised $10 total.
