We are the Birmingham Transplant Football Club. Our aim is to increase awareness of the success of transplantation and organ donation by playing the game we love and showing organ recipients can return to full fitness and competitive sport.
We are a mix of ages and abilities but all the team’s player have had life supporting organ transplants at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. We are raising funds to cover the costs of getting our first kit together so that we walk out together as a team.
We first came together to play against Lee Carsley’s Birmingham All Stars which raised a significant amount donations and local awareness we then continued training together and and entered the annual British Transplant Games in August 2024 which we won. One of our players has gone on to represent England in the inaugural Transplant Football World Cup held in Italy in the summer of 2024.
We train together at least once a month and play 5, 6, 7 and 11 a side football. Upcoming events in 2025 include a trip to play and train with the Wales Transplant Football team, the TSUK tournament and the British Transplant Games Tournament in August, as well as a number of organised friendly games in line with the charity.
You can follow the progress of the team on our Facebook page – Birmingham Transplant Football Club and we’ll post updates and pictures on here too.
If you are able to support the team in any way, we would be grateful, it allows us to promote the amazing success of organ donation by playing the beautiful game.
