Birkan Uzun Foundation

Birkan inspired the world with his love for the outdoors, fierce determination and his intense pride in being a Turkish Cypriot. He had the goal of completing the 7 summits and had completed 5 of them before his passing. For his last summit, Mount Vinson in Antarctica, he was the first Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot on that summit and held up his country's flag proudly. He spoke to the world of how with drive and determination, you can achieve anything. In his life, Birkan always was looking to support others and help them complete their goals. This fund will pay tribute to all that Birkan accomplished in his life and support those inspired by all that Birkan represented. Birkan also received Bachelors and Masters Degree from MIT in Computer Science engineering.

 

An organization is being created in Birkan's name in Cyprus to help support Turkish Cypriots interested in the outdoors and computer science. Funds from this organization will help those for things such as tuition or helping with expedition costs. As this organization is being created, we will begin collecting funds through this gofundme and it will be transferred to the official organization once it is open.

 

Please note all funds will be donated in USD. There is no true "goal" for how much to be raised, but was a requirement by gofundme to have one listed.
