Our beautiful friend and loved one, Birgit Mandato came to the United States from a little town in Germany as a young lady of 19. She married and had 3 sons, God was not done, she was due to have one last son, who happens to be my handsome Godson, Robert Small. She was blessed with many grandchildren, the little princess in this picture was the most recent addition and she looked forward to spoiling her now that she was retired.
Birgit's life changed in the blink of an eye along with her family and all who love her. After running some errands she appeared tired, Bobbie told her to get some rest. She laid her head on his shoulder and subsequently had what looked like a stroke but was determined to be a seizure. The ambulance took her to St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem's ICU. A neurologist placed probes on her head and intubated her while being sedated. The goal was to be seizure free for 24 hours. The team tried to wean her from the medication but she was disoriented and combative. For her safety, she was given more sedative.
Unfortunately the worst was yet to come, she did not know or recognize her precious family.
Her neurologist found a mass on her frontal lobe. I will keep this page updated as we learn more.
Many people have asked how they can help, this family has always been the ones to help the less fortunate in many different ways, housing them, feeding them, driving them to appointments, to the supermarket and more.
They're currently trying to catch up on their rent, so if you are called to donate, they will greatly appreciate your kindness, prayers and love at this difficult time.
Birgit is a woman of FAITH, she has the ultimate physician on her team and we claim a complete healing in Jesus Mighty Name.
Amen and God Bless you all.
